Hydraulic Jacks Types:

Hydraulic bottle jack

This hydraulic jack, or whiskey jack, has a bottle shape. It has a vertical lifting ram with a support pad attached at the top. A small reservoir supplies Hydraulic fluid to the main cylinder beneath the ram. It is usually a single action piston for lifting a load with relatively high clearance. Through interconnecting multiple jacks evenly distributed across the base of the load, it can form a vertical jack system for lifting heavy objects with a broad base, such as a house.

1) Low profile bottle jacks: These bottle jacks are designed for lower clearance applications. They can operate in both vertical positions in lifting loads and horizontal positions in splitters and bearing/shaft removal with a large base area for strength and stability.

2) Portable hydraulic power bottle jacks: These bottle jacks are ideal for industrial lifting and pushing applications while maintaining portability.

3) Telescoping bottle jacks: These hydraulic bottle jacks are similar to the portable hydraulic power bottle jacks but with a longer stroke for extended lifting capability. The longer stroke saves time and makes the job done in one lifting operation. However, they typically have less lifting capacity.

4) Sidewinder/mini-jacks: They can be carried in your hand’s palms. They are the smallest jack that can slip into the narrowest of crevices.

5) Toe-type bottle jacks: For lifting from the side, useful for loads with low clearances. They are ideal for machine lifting, rigging, lift truck services and similar functions. They can operate both vertically and horizontally.

Hydraulic floor jack

The hydraulic floor jack, or trolley jack consists of a horizontal piston pushing the short end of a bell crank. The bell cranks long arm connects to the lift pad providing vertical motion of the load. The long arm is connects to the castor and wheel to compensate for the arc motion. The horizontal cylinder and piston allow the floor jack to operate with a low profile and easy to maneuver under load, such as a vehicle.
